Starting with one pilot place
Your place. Your issues. Your plan.
bytheppl.in is where the people of a village, ward, block or district post the problems they live with and the ideas they have, work them out together, get them to the office that can act, and build a long-term plan for where they live.
Free to use. Non-partisan. Everything is public.
Why this exists
Communities already know their problems and have ideas. What is missing is structure, a path to the right decision-maker, and memory.
Issues die in the wrong inbox
Most problems go unsolved because nobody knows which office owns them, and that office never hears of them in a form it can act on.
Ideas scatter and fade
Good proposals get shared in a WhatsApp group, argued about once, and lost. Nothing turns them into a plan someone can fund or approve.
Nobody keeps the long-term picture
A pothole gets fixed, a road never gets built. No one holds the three-year view of what a place needs and what has been done.
What the platform does
Five things, in order. Each one depends on the one before it.
- 01
Post an issue or idea
Anyone can report a problem or propose an idea for their place, in their own language, from a basic phone on a weak connection. No complicated sign-up.
- 02
Work it out together
Neighbours add facts and photos, show support, propose alternatives and vote. Ideas mature in the open from draft to shortlisted to part of a plan.
- 03
Hear from verified sources
Your panchayat or ward office, health centre, school, utility, cooperative or a recognised NGO publishes notices, scheme deadlines and alerts to your place, under a verified badge.
- 04
Reach the right authority
Every issue is tagged by domain and jurisdiction and delivered to the office that owns it, with a reference number and a public acknowledgement clock.
- 05
Build a long-term plan
Issues and ideas roll up into one living development plan for your place: priorities by domain, a three-to-five year direction, and a public record of what was done.
How it works
The smallest loop that creates value. If it works for one block, it will work anywhere.
- 1
Post
Someone posts an issue or idea for a place.
- 2
Tag
It is tagged by civic domain and place level: water, roads, health; ward, village, block, district.
- 3
Route
It goes to the office that owns it. A public clock starts for acknowledgement.
- 4
Refine
Others add facts, support and alternative ideas. A steward groups related posts into one plan.
- 5
Decide
The community reviews and votes. The plan is handed to the implementer and its status is tracked in public.
- 6
Remember
Plans and outcomes roll up into the place's long-term development plan, revised every year.
Who it is for
Residents
Post, support, discuss and vote on what matters where you live. Follow your place to receive notices.
Stewards
Trusted volunteers who group posts into plans, keep the authority directory current, and carry plans to the people who can act.
Verified sources
Offices, health centres, schools, utilities, cooperatives and NGOs with a mandate for a place. Publish notices and respond to routed issues.
Implementers and funders
Panchayats, municipal bodies, district administrations, cooperatives, NGOs and investors. Pick up a one-page plan and act on it.
Our principles
Visible on every page, enforced from day one.
Transparent
Every post, plan, routing, acknowledgement and status change is public with its history. No private deals through the platform.
Non-partisan
Content cites offices, schemes and bodies, never parties or candidates. Stewards and verified sources cannot campaign.
Verified
A badge means we checked the mandate, and the record of that check is public. Corrections are appended, never hidden.
Private by default
Phone numbers are never public. Routing sends the issue to the office, not your contact details, unless you choose otherwise.
Where we are
We are at the start. The platform is being built in the open, one pilot place first. Right now you can read how it works, read our principles, and tell us about an issue or idea. Submissions reach the pilot stewards directly.
