Our principles

Our principles

These are the rules the platform runs on. They are not aspirations. Stewards, verified sources and the founding team are bound by them, and anyone who breaks them loses their role.

  1. 01

    Transparency

Every post, plan, routing, acknowledgement and status change is public with its full history. There are no private channels between contributors, stewards and authorities through the platform. If a conversation about a plan happens off the platform, its outcome is recorded on it.

  2. 02

    Neutrality

The platform is non-partisan. Content names offices, schemes, bodies and budgets, never parties, candidates or campaigns. Stewards and verified sources who campaign lose their role. An authority's performance is shown as facts and dates, in neutral words.

  3. 03

    Verification

A verified badge means the platform checked that the body has a mandate for the place it publishes to. The check is manual, and the record of who verified, on what basis and when is public. The badge shows the jurisdiction, not just a tick.

  4. 04

    Attribution and correction

Notices from verified sources are attributable and permanent. Corrections are appended in full view, never made by silent edit.

  5. 05

    Privacy of contributors

Phone numbers are never public. You can post under your name or as a resident of your place. When an issue is routed to an office it carries the issue, not your contact details, unless you choose to be contacted.

  6. 06

    Local language first

The first language of the platform is the language of the pilot place. English comes second. The user interface, the domain names and the authority directory are translated content, not an afterthought.

  7. 07

    Built in the open

The approach, the roadmap and the code are public. Decisions about the platform are recorded where anyone can read them.
